MechoSystems Honored with Product Innovation Award for SoHo Collection

LONG ISLAND CITY, N.Y.—MechoSystems, the world’s foremost provider of WindowManagement® solutions, announced that it received the 2015 Architectural Products magazine Product Innovation Award (PIA) in the Solar Control category for its recently released SoHo Collection, a finely woven textile featuring distinctive color themes for use with roller shades.

The Architectural Products Product Innovation Awards (PIAs) determine and honor innovation in the development and refinement of buildings-related products that range the gamut from interior finishes to cladding systems. Judged by a group of 35 independent industry professionals, the program represents a mechanism to impartially review product and present to readers, items
their peers found innovative and worth investigating.

Products were assigned to judges—a diverse body including architects, interior designers, lighting designers and veteran A/E/C writers—based on their expertise and interest. Judges were asked to simply assign a numerical grade to each entry and comment on particular aspects of the product they found innovative or intriguing.

Upon review and evaluation, the judge’s comment was, “The real beauty is that, no matter which percentage of openness you choose, it looks the same throughout the space, creating a desirable uniformity that maintains the original interior design.”

“Building on the success of last year’s program, our fifth edition of the awards proves commercial building manufacturers are committed to, and are working arduously toward, delivering more
sustainable products, as well as products that deliver better performance, life and affordability,” said Jim Crockett, editorial director of Architectural Products magazine.

“We are honored to receive this Product Innovation Award from Architectural Products magazine,” MechoSystems President Jan Berman said. “It’s comforting to know that experts in our industry see the value and benefits of our SoHo Collection, which was named for an area of New York City that my father, Joel, started the company in 1969. All twelve contemporary colors are named after streets in the SoHo neighborhood of Lower Manhattan, now a thriving and chic area.”

The GreenGuard Gold recognized material is woven in a 2 x 2 basket weave with a smooth texture and a soft hand. The SoHo collection features 12 contemporary colors and is 98 inches (249cm) wide.

About the company: Founded in 1969, MechoSystems is the world’s leading designer and manufacturer of innovative window covering systems for the architectural and design communities.
